On October 21, 2026, 20 high school students got a chance to experience what it’s like to study medicine in Magdeburg during the “Fall University” event. At the School of Medicine at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, they gained insight into daily student life and the work of the University Medical Center Magdeburg (UMMD).

There’s double cause for celebration at the Magdeburg University Women’s Hospital: Juna and her twin brother, Lion Sol, have arrived! Their birth is something very special because, even though they were born just five minutes apart, they have different birthdays.

Two Poster Awards for UMMD: Dr. Martin Böttcher and Sven Lorenzen from the University Clinic for Hematology, Oncology, Cell Therapy, and Radiation Therapy in Magdeburg each received a poster award at the 2026 annual meeting of the German Society for Hematology and Oncology (DGHO) in Vienna. The conference is one of the most important professional conferences in the German-speaking world and has a strong clinical focus.
