MSB Network Meeting 2018
The Orthopaedic University Hospital Magdeburg (Director Prof. Dr. Christoph H. Lohmann) hosted this year's summer meeting of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Network (MSB-NET) of the Basic Research Section of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU) in early June. Dr. Joachim Döring from the Research Department of the Orthopaedic University Hospital was appointed 2nd Cluster Speaker of the Tribology Cluster
Prof. Dr. Jessica Bertrand, who heads the clinic's Experimental Orthopedics research unit, and Dr. Joachim Döring welcomed more than 40 participants from research laboratories in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Together with the team of scientists led by Prof. Dr. Thorsten Halle from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Otto von Guericke University, the latest results of musculoskeletal research as well as future research options and network projects were presented and discussed during the two-day meeting. The next meeting of the network will take place in October in Berlin.
The aim of the research network is to improve biomechanical research and teaching and to promote cooperation between the network partners throughout Germany. The main topics are tissue engineering, motion analysis, the study of friction and wear of artificial joint implants, numerical simulation and, since last year, implant anchoring in bone and implant safety.
